Live captions for interpreters, on your own PC.

A second pair of ears, not a replacement

Twincaptions shows what a speaker says in the original language and a machine translation of it, side by side, while the conversation happens. Interpreters use it as a reference to catch numbers, names and terms during remote and on-site assignments. It does not speak, does not join the meeting and does not interpret for you: you stay in charge of the rendition, and the captions are there when you need to glance at them.

Numbers, dates and terms you can see

Figures, amounts, dates and times are highlighted in both panes, so they stand out while you listen. The Numbers and terms bar keeps the latest figures and glossary terms in view, with their translation. If a number in the translation does not match the original, the app marks it so you can check it with the speaker.

Prepare each assignment

Prepare from a briefing reads a briefing document (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, RTF, HTML or text) on your PC and suggests terms, names, acronyms and figures for a glossary for that job. You review each suggested translation before saving it. Glossaries work per language direction, saved corrections fix words the recognizer keeps getting wrong, and selecting words opens a lookup in Linguee, IATE or WordReference in your browser.

Confidential by design

Speech recognition and translation run locally once the models are installed, so conversation audio is not sent to a cloud translation service. Saving transcripts is off by default. That helps when you work under confidentiality agreements; always follow your client’s rules about what may run on your computer.

Fits your call setup

Choose a Windows audio device, or the audio of a single application such as your meeting app or browser, so the captions follow the speaker you interpret. Compact mode and the caption bar take little space next to your interpreting platform or notes. Parakeet runs on the CPU with 24 languages; compatible NVIDIA GPUs add Whisper large-v3 for more languages.

Who it is for

Conference and remote simultaneous interpreters, consecutive and liaison interpreters, community, medical and legal interpreters who want a support tool, interpreting students who practise with real speeches, and bilingual professionals. AI can omit or change words and numbers: Twincaptions is not certified for any legal or medical purpose, and important details should be confirmed with the speaker.

Try it on your next assignment

Start with the 1-day free trial, without a credit card. After that, choose $3.99 per month or a $24.99 lifetime license for the current major version. Both plans include every feature and unlimited local translation.
